Program Leader Heather Fowler, a native North Vancouverite, enjoyed playing in the woods, competitive gymnastics and bike touring in Europe, North America, Hawaii and the Caribbean as a youth. She lived in Florida for over 25 years and is happy to be back home enjoying the coolness of our North Shore forest.
Since moving back in 2010, Heather taught fitness at North Van Rec Centres, was a corporate trainer for ICBC and had her own outdoor fitness company, FowlerFit. In addition to personal training, she taught TRX (Total Body Resistance Exercise), spinning and stretch classes including myofascial release, boot camps, Tabata, circuit training and led urban walk groups in the summers. Heather also works individually with seniors and as a Recreation Aide facilitating a variety of stimulating programs for them.
Heather’s love of seniors and fitness background, combined with her knowledge and passion for our local forests makes her a delightfully interesting guide for nature or health walks. Heather firmly believes that “making sure we stay strong with a full range of body movements, balance and cross body strength building is a must to a healthy, long life.” By engaging elders in the forest with its many healing qualities naturally creates immune resistant and enduringly agile bodies.
I look forward to sharing my enthusiasm for our beautiful BC Parks with all our participants this year!
